National Nursing Ethics Conference Scholarship

HPNF is offering one scholarship to attend the National Nursing Ethics Conference (NNEC), taking place April 16-17, 2026 in Los Angeles, California. This scholarship includes free conference registration, and up to $500 for airfare, $600 for hotel, and $100 for incidentals. Learn more about the conference here.

Judy Lentz Leadership Development Scholarship

This scholarship provides an HPNA member (CNA, LPN, RN, or APRN) who has worked in hospice or palliative care for less than three years with a one-year membership to HPNA, early-bird conference registration for the HPNA Annual Conference, and a special mentoring opportunity with Judy Lentz.

2026 HPNA Annual Conference Scholarship

HPNF offers up to six scholarships annually for HPNA members to attend the HPNA Conference. The scholarship covers the cost of registration for the event. 

Sandra Lee Schafer Certification Scholarship

HPNF will provide 25 scholarships in 2025 to nurses nationwide to cover the cost of certification fees. Valid for those earning a new Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) certification or those who are renewing their current HPCC certification. Individuals can apply for scholarships before or after taking the exam.

NEW in 2025: Sandra Lee Schafer Certification Scholarship applications are reviewed quarterly. Applicants who are not selected during their first round of review will be added to subsequent reviews for the remainder of the calendar year. No further action from the applicant will be needed for this continued consideration, and the affected applicants will be updated quarterly.

HPNA Certification Review Courses Scholarship

All certification review course scholarships have been awarded for 2025! The 2026 application will open on January 1, 2026.
Up to three individuals will receive free registration to attend one of HPNA’s Certification Review Courses in 2025. Current HPNA membership or HPCC certification is not necessary in order to apply.

ELNEC Train-the-Trainer Scholarship

HPNF offers up to eight scholarships annually for HPNA members to attend an HPNA-sponsored ELNEC Train-the-Trainer and ELNEC Pediatric Train-the-Trainer course.

Sigma Foundation for Nursing/HPNF End-of-Life Nursing Care Research Grant

In 2004, Sigma Foundation for Nursing and HPNF partnered to offer an annual research grant. With the goal of encouraging contributions to the advancement of nursing care through research, one grant of up to $10,000 will be awarded annually. Proposals for pilot and/or developmental research may be submitted for the grant.

HPNA Membership Scholarship

All membership scholarships have been awarded for 2025! The 2026 application will open on January 1, 2026.
Up to 10 individuals will receive a one-year complimentary HPNA membership. Current HPNA membership is not necessary in order to apply.

Individual Education Scholarship

The Individual Education Scholarships were established by HPNF to provide financial assistance for hospice and palliative care nurses and nursing assistants who are earning new nursing licenses or academic degrees. Starting in September 2023, HPNF is offering five Individual Education Scholarships each year, and each category is eligible to receive $2,000.

Annual Assembly Scholarship

HPNF provides scholarships for HPNA members to attend the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. Conference scholarships cover the cost of early-bird registration for attending the event. 

State of the Science Scholarship

HPNF will provide three scholarships for HPNA members to attend the State of the Science pre-conference session, held at the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. The scholarships cover the cost of early-bird pre-con registration.

Emerging Leaders Award

This award is designed to celebrate and encourage early-career hospice and palliative nurses. Applicants must be under the age of 40 OR have less than five years of experience in hospice and palliative nursing.
