You must work 500 hours in the most recent 12 months or 1,000 hours in the most recent 24 months in the specialty of hospice and palliative care before you apply for the exam. You can find specific eligibility information for each program on the website or in the candidate handbook.

If you are unable to schedule your exam, first make sure you have completed both the registration and application processes. You begin your registration on the HPCC website and continue onto the application on PSI’s site. For additional assistance, please email hpcc@gohpcc.org.
Visit https://test-takers.psiexams.com/hpcc/auth/login to reschedule your exam or call PSI at 833.256.1422. If you would like to reschedule within the same testing window, there is no additional fee. If you would like to reschedule and transfer to the next testing window, you must fill out a transfer application and pay the $110 transfer fee.
You will receive information on how to print or purchase your certificate within 60 days following the close of the testing window.
HPCC and PSI comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are committed to ensuring that individuals with disabilities or impairments are not deprived of the opportunity to take the examination solely because of a disability or impairment, as required and defined by the relevant provisions of the law. Special testing arrangements will be considered for these individuals, provided that an appropriate written application request for accommodation is received by PSI by the application deadline and the request is approved.
To request accommodations, you must complete the online form and attach the Documentation of Disability-Related Needs form. This form must be completed by an appropriately licensed professional. It may take up to 10 business days for the accommodation request to be reviewed and approved. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation email and/or call from PSI with further information on how to schedule your exam. If you have questions regarding exam accommodations, you must call the Accommodations Department at PSI at 800-367-1565 ext. 6750.
HPCC does not review or approve accommodation requests. All questions must be directed to PSI at the number above.
The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) provides a number of scholarships each year to nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team nationwide to cover the cost of certification fees for those earning or renewing the following Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) certifications: ACHPN®, APHSW-C, CHPCA®, CHPLN®, CHPN®, CHPNA®, CHPPN®, or CPLC®. Individuals can apply for a scholarship before or after taking the exam.

Yes, if you are not successful on your first attempt, HPCC offers reTEST Assured, allowing you to retake the exam within the next three testing windows at a reduced cost.
