HPCC Announces APHSW-C® Accreditation
On June 10, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) granted accreditation to the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) for demonstrating compliance with the NCCA Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs for its Advanced Palliative Hospice Social Worker–Certified (APHSW-C®) program.
NCCA sets the national benchmark for high-quality voluntary certification programs across diverse industries. This accreditation affirms that the program has successfully met the stringent standards required for accreditation and is regarded as a trustworthy, vetted credential program.
The APHSW-C® program, which has 843 active certificants, is designed for experienced hospice and -palliative social workers. The APHSW-C® examination consists of 150 multiple-choice items, and individuals must meet a set of requirements to be eligible to sit for the exam. Testing windows are available in March, June, September, and December of each year.
The Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network (SWHPN) and National Alliance for Care at Home graciously support the APHSW-C® program. In turn, members of these organizations receive discounted pricing on examinations and recertification.
“In addition to the support we have received from fellow hospice and palliative care organizations, this significant recognition of high-quality standards and processing from NCCA is something HPCC takes great pride in achieving,” said Chad Reilly, MBA, CAE, executive vice president. “The value the accreditation provides to our APHSW-C® certificants is individually meaningful and significant to the entire hospice and palliative care social work community.”
The NCCA Standards were created in 1977 and updated in 2021 to ensure certification programs adhere to modern standards of practice for the certification industry. HPCC joins an elite group of more than 130 organizations representing over 310 programs that have received and maintained NCCA accreditation.
HPCC is now accredited through May 31, 2031. More information about NCCA is available online at www.credentialingexcellence.org/NCCA or by phone at 202-367-1165.
