Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center Awards $1.2 Million Impact Grant
The Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) is proud to announce it has awarded a $1.2 million impact grant to the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) in memory of the late Sandra Lee Schafer, MN, RN AOCN®, former director of credentialing at HPCC.
Since 1998, HPNF, a 501(c)(3), has been a catalyst for education, innovation, and professional development for nurses caring for our nation’s most vulnerable patients. This meaningful grant will create a lasting legacy of sustainable giving, impacting the hospice and palliative care community for years to come.
“HPCC is honored to support the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation,” said Lawrence Fabrey, PhD, president of the HPCC Board of Director. “With this grant, HPNF will be able to enhance its impact within the specialty of hospice and palliative care exponentially.”
In the past 10 years, HPNF has raised more than $1.5 million to support educational programs for hospice and palliative care nurses, nurse administrators, and nursing assistants with the goal of advancing expert care in serious illness. Since its inception and paramount to HPCC’s mission, HPNF has provided hundreds of scholarships to professionals seeking HPCC certification or recertification. This new grant will be used by HPNF to continue this tradition of giving and create a long-term impact on hospice and palliative care nurses, their patients, and the entire specialty through grants and scholarships that enable professionals to continue their education, attend conferences, earn specialty certification, and more.
“With this grant, HPCC is making an indelible mark in the future of HPNF and in the lives and practice of the nurses, nursing assistants, and stakeholders the foundation supports,” said Virginia (Ginger) Marshall, MSN, ACNP-BC, ACHPN®, FPCN, chief executive officer of HPCC. “HPCC is making a difference!”
HPCC is honored to be able to provide a dedicated source of long-term funding to HPNF that supports the mission and work of such an outstanding philanthropic organization. By ensuring the long-term sustainability, resilience, and effectiveness of HPNF today, HPCC has made the commitment to building an exciting and impactful future together. In the years, ahead, HPCC looks forward to witnessing HPNF create a long-lasting legacy of quality and excellence within the hospice and palliative care specialty.
