Core Curriculum for the Hospice and Palliative Administrator
Core Curriculum for the Hospice and Palliative Administrator, Second Edition, 2017
The second edition of the Core Curriculum for Hospice and Palliative Care Administrators targets individual want to advance their knowledge in of hospice and palliative program leadership. In the rapidly changing landscape of our industry and the broader healthcare system, expert knowledge and skills are required of hospice and palliative care program leaders.
This curriculum provides a concise compilation of the essential, and, in some cases, foundational knowledge that hospice and palliative care leaders need to ensure their programs can navigate the changes that will be required for program growth and sustainability. The curriculum has been reorganized to equip leaders, with both hospice and palliative care programs, with the knowledge needed to develop core competencies for successful leadership, management and administration of programs. The new organization of the curriculum begins with a chapter on leadership and ethics, and expands the content provided on organizational strategic planning. The curriculum also addresses the future role of palliative care and hospice in health care reform, day -to-day operations of hospice and palliative care programs, a complete review of the Medicare Hospice Benefit Conditions of Participation and recent key regulatory changes, fiscal management, quality, community outreach and advocacy, with a final chapter devoted to organizational integrity and compliance.
