Grants and Scholarships

Sandra Lee Schafer Certification Scholarships

This year, HPNF will provide 28 scholarships to nurses nationwide to cover the cost certification fees and are valid for those earning a new Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) certification or those who are renewing their current HPCC certification. Individuals can apply for the scholarships before or after taking the exam.

Annual Assembly Scholarship

Applications will be open November 1 - December 15
There are several scholarships available for HPNA members to attend the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. The 2022 Assembly will be held in Nashville, TN from February 19-21.

 

Cynthia Stutzer Palliative Care Memorial Scholarship

Application Due Date: December 3, 2021
HPNF and the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) partnered to offer an opportunity for APHON members to attend the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. The scholarship covers the cost of registration and a travel stipend. The 2022 Annual Assembly will be held in Nashville, TN from February 19-21.

ELNEC Scholarship

HPNF offers several scholarships annually for HPNA members to attend an HPNA-sponsored ELNEC Train-the-Trainer course.

Clinical Practice Forum Scholarship

HPNF offers several scholarships annually for HPNA members to attend the Clinical Practice Forum. The scholarship covers the cost of registration for the event.

Judy Lentz Scholarship

Applications will be open November 1 - December 15
The Judy Lentz Scholarship for the Advancement of Palliative Care in Oncology Nursing provides a registered nurse, who is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, with a one-year membership (new or renewal) to HPNA, as well as conference registration and a travel stipend for the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. Emerging Leaders Award

Application Due Date: November 15, 2021
Number of Scholarships Available: 30

The Emerging Leaders Award is designed to support and encourage early career hospice and palliative nurses. Recipients of the award will receive a 1-year HPNA membership, plaque, pin, and recognition at the Annual Assembly of Hospice and Palliative Care. Self-nominations are encouraged!

8th National Nursing Ethics Conference

Application Due Date: January 25, 2022
Number of Scholarships Available: 1

HPNF is offering a$1,500 scholarship, which includes conference registration and a travel stipend, to attend the 8th National Nursing Ethics Conference (NNEC), March 17-18, 2022, at the Luskin Conference Center on the campus of UCLA. Call for applications begins December 18, 2021.

Individual Education Scholarship

The individual education scholarships were established by HPNF to provide financial assistance for nursing professionals earning academic degrees. This scholarship may be used for, but not limited to, tuition, books, computer software, and supplies that are related to nursing education. Nurses at all levels of nursing education (from entry level through graduate degrees) are encouraged to apply.

Sigma Foundation for Nursing/HPNF End-of-Life Nursing Care Research Grant

Application Due Date: April 1, 2022

In 2004, Sigma Foundation for Nursing and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) partnered to offer an annual research grant. With the goal of encouraging contributions to the advancement of nursing care through research, one grant of up to $10,000 will be awarded annually. Proposals for pilot and/or developmental research may be submitted for the grant.

Chapter Education Grant

HPNF promotes hospice and palliative nursing at the local level through Chapter Education Grants. Each year HPNF awards up to six (6) grants to HPNA Chartered Chapters. The purpose of the grant is to benefit chapter members through education and expand chapter membership. Each grant is typically $1,000. The grants are competitive and winners are selected by a review committee consisting of HPNA members.
